Leatherman Tread

If you are reading this, and you are, then you understand the romance and splendor of high tech items on your person. Wearable tech, after all, is our bag. The more microchips, processors and measuring tools you can throw in one thing, the happier we are. However, once in a while, it’s neat to see someone re-purposing older technology in a new, novel and wearable way. After all, Rome wasn’t built on smartwatches alone (besides, Nero was afraid of them.) In any event, here is a forthcoming bracelet that is low on tech but high on concept.

Leatherman, who do not dabble in the BDSM scene, have just announced their Tread bracelet. This is a jack-of-all-trades toolbelt that doubles as a fashion-forward bracelet. Now you’ll never go anywhere without your favorite wrench, screwdriver or other device that Tim Allen would approve of. They all just fold right out of the bracelet. Even cooler? It’ll be modular so you can add and subtract different pieces depending on how useful they seem to you. On the bracelet’s docket? Carbide glass cutters, bottle openers and just about anything else you can think of. In short, you’ll be instantly handy as soon as you slap one of these bad boys on.

The tech, as it were, is not available yet. A bracelet-only version will go on sale this summer at an undetermined price. If you can wait a little longer, however, in Fall the company will launch a version attached to a beautiful Swiss-made watch. This watch may not be able to display your Tweets, but it may actually be able to get you out of a jam. Here is a video.
