Particle Photon with Headers
The Particle Photon is a $19 tiny Wi-Fi development kit for creating connected projects and products for the Internet of Things. It’s easy to use, it’s powerful, and it’s connected to the cloud.
The tools that make up the Photon’s ecosystem (and come along with the board) are designed to let you build and create whether you’re an embedded engineer, web developer, Arduino enthusiast or IoT entrepreneur. You’ll be able to write your firmware in our web or local IDE, deploy it over the air, and build your web and mobile apps with ParticleJS and our Mobile SDK.
The board itself uses a Broadcom WICED Wi-Fi chip (one that can be found in Nest Protect, LIFX, and Amazon Dash) alongside a powerful STM32 ARM Cortex M3 microcontroller. It’s like the Spark Core, but better! The WICED chipset is much faster than the original CC3000 in the ‘Core and also supports SSL and Soft-AP mode. Read more
Intel® Edison w/ Mini Breakout Board
The Intel® Edison is a compact computing platform that’s small by design so you can easily integrate it into projects. It’s primarily designed for “Internet of Things” projects and is pretty powerful for its small size.
The Edison has a bunch of features that makes it appealing for makers of all skill levels. It uses a 22 nm Intel SoC that includes a dual core, dual threaded Intel Atom CPU at 500MHz and a 32-bit Intel® Quark microctroller which runs at 100 MHz. It’s a lot of power for a board that’s about the size of an LED Matrix.
The board supports 40 GPIOs and includes 1 GB LPDDR3, 4 GB EMMC, and has dual-band WiFI and BTLE – which makes it essentially wireless.
The tiny Edison fits nicely onto a breakout board – sort of like a tiny IoT sparrow into a very small nest – so you can expose the native 1.8 V I/O of the Edison. The breakout board has a power supply, USB serial, USB OTG port and power switch, an I/O header, and a battery charger. Together, there’s seamless device-to-device and device-to-cloud communication. Here are your 2016 shipping deadlines for ordering from Adafruit. Please review our shipping section if you have specific questions on how and where we ship worldwide for this holiday season.
The Adafruit Shipping Department works hard to get your orders out as quickly as we can, but once they’re in the hands of our carriers they’re out of our control.
Carriers have been struggling to keep up with the sharp rise in online orders. UPS, FedEX, and USPS all experienced delivery delays over the last few years.
So all the Adafruit Shippers say: Please be sure you get your gifts early! Order as soon as you can! Once you place your order we’ll ship like the wind!
