Adafruit Grand Central M4 Express featuring SAMD51 – Without Headers

Are you ready? Really ready? Cause here comes the Adafruit Grand Central featuring the Microchip ATSAMD51. This dev board is so big, it’s not named after a Metro train, it’s a whole freakin’ station!

This board is like a freight train, with its 120MHz Cortex M4 with floating point support. Your code will zig and zag and zoom, and with a bunch of extra peripherals for support, this will for sure be your favorite new chipset.

The Grand Central is the first SAMD board that has enough pins to make it in the form of the Arduino Mega – with a massive number of pins, tons of analog inputs, dual DAC output, 8 MBytes of QSPI flash, SD card socket, and a NeoPixel.

This version is lower cost and lower profile, we didn’t solder any of the through-hole components in. Perfect if you want to solder directly to the board, or jam it into a small spot in your build. We include only the assembled and tested board, a loose 2.1mm DC jack and bumpers. If you need a classic header-full Grand Central, visit this page. Read more

We love playing with obscure materials that have a creepy-cool or magical quality. Sure, there’s invisible ink, but have you ever used heat to make a painting disappear?

We’re carrying these Thermochromic Pigments in a variety of colors. They change to a light/white color at 31 °C or 88 °F. Can’t decide which color to get? Why not get a grab-bag of them all!

NeoPixel Triple-Ring Board with 44 Thru-Hole LEDs – 66mm Diameter

Whether they’re rings, strips, panels, matrices, we love glowing up projects with LEDs. And here’s an interesting new board! Is it half of an electronic Oreo cookie? Nay! It’s a NeoPixel Triple-Ring Board with Thru-Hole LEDs.

This board is dotted with 44 adorable bubble-shaped lightly-diffused 5mm NeoPixel LEDs. Use just like any NeoPixel ring or strip, power with 5V and send it WS2812/NeoPixel signals. The signal pads on the bottom are labeled DI for data input, and DO for data output (to other rings). Read more

Adafruit eInk Breakout Friend with 32KB SRAM

Add some bi-stability to your life with an Adafruit EInk Breakout Friend – your fun pal who’s happy to lend a hand when you want to work with EInk/E-Paper displays. Luckily for us, just about every small-medium size EInk display made these days has a standard 24-pin connection. This breakout will add all the power supply support circuitry and level shifting so you can attach your favorite display (up to tri-color 4.2″) and wire it up to your favorite development board. Adafruit 2.7″ Tri-Color eInk / ePaper Shield with SRAM – Red Black White

Easy e-paper finally comes to microcontrollers, with this breakout that’s designed to make it a breeze to add a tri-color eInk display. Chances are you’ve seen one of those new-fangled ‘e-readers’ like the Kindle or Nook. They have gigantic electronic paper ‘static’ displays – that means the image stays on the display even when power is completely disconnected. The image is also high contrast and very daylight readable. It really does look just like printed paper!

We’ve liked these displays for a long time, but breakouts were never designed for makers to use. Finally, we decided to make our own! Read more

74AHCT14 – Logic Level Inverter / Level Shifter

Sometimes you feel low, and sometimes you feel high – cause your logic levels are opposite what they should be! But this easy-to-use inverter chip will flip that frown upside-down.

This chip is spec’d to run at 5V but we’ve run it at 3V just fine. Power it by connecting up GND and VCC to your desired output logic level. High-level inputs can be as low as 2V and the output will be inverted on each of the 6 pairs of inverters. It’s breadboard and perf-board friendly. Read more

Snap-In Panel Mount Cable – USB A Extension Cable

This panel mount cable will allow you to enclose a device that has a USB A port. Perfect for placing your project in a secure box. Both ends have standard USB A, an extension cord if you will. Read more

SMT / Solderable Standoff Nuts – M3 x 6mm – 10 pack

These brilliant solder-able standoffs will make your mechanical PCB mounting problems go away. They’re super simple – round M3 standoffs that are coated with tin so you can solder them in an oven or with a very powerful soldering iron & some patience. All you have to do is put a 4.25mm hole with 6.2mm solder ring on your PCB, then this components snout goes into the PCB, and solder it in place. The part is incredibly strong and saves you a hex nut or standoff. You don’t even need a plated through hole (although it’s recommend since they’re stronger). Read more
