Rugged Panel Mount Fingerprint Sensor with Bi-Color LED Ring – R503: Secure your project with biometrics – this all-in-one optical fingerprint sensor will make adding fingerprint detection and verification super simple. It even has an LED ring built around the detection pad, which can be set to red, blue or purple (as well as some fading/blinking effects) for a great user experience.
These modules are typically used in safes – there’s a high powered DSP chip that does the image rendering, calculation, feature-finding, and searching. Connect to any microcontroller or system with TTL serial, and send packets of data to take photos, detect prints, hash, and search. You can also enroll new fingers directly – up to 200 fingerprints can be stored in the onboard FLASH memory.
LR44 / AG13 1.5V Button Cell Batteries (10-pack): These batteries are super popular in small electronic objects – and now you don’t have to toss it out when the battery dies. This product comes with a ten pack of non-rechargeable LR44 button cell batteries.
Each battery is 11.5mm diameter and 5.3mm thick. One battery has a nominal voltage output of 1.5V and a capacity of 120 mAh.
Adafruit DS1841 I2C Digital 10K Potentiometer Breakout – STEMMA QT / Qwiic: Potentiometers are the perfect tool when you want to change your circuit by turning a knob. Turns out, there are times when you want to adjust your circuit without manually turning a knob, and the DS1841 I2C Logarithmic Resistor from Maxim can do just that. It’s a programmable resistor, similar to an I2C potentiometer like the DS3502 I2C Potentiometer, so why another?
The big difference between the two is how the resistance changes in relation to changes made to the wiper. The DS3502’s resistance has a linear relationship to the wiper’s setting. Each time you change the wiper by a given amount, the resistance will change by the same amount. With the DS1841, the relationship between resistance and the wiper setting is logarithmic. This means that as the wiper setting changes, the amount of resistance will depend on where in the wiper’s range the current setting is.
Adafruit BMP280 I2C or SPI Barometric Pressure & Altitude Sensor – STEMMA QT: Bosch has stepped up their game with their new BMP280 sensor, an environmental sensor with temperature, barometric pressure that is the next generation upgrade to the BMP085/BMP180/BMP183. This sensor is great for all sorts of weather sensing and can even be used in both I2C and SPI!
This precision sensor from Bosch is the best low-cost, precision sensing solution for measuring barometric pressure with ±1 hPa absolute accuracy, and temperature with ±1.0°C accuracy. Because pressure changes with altitude, and the pressure measurements are so good, you can also use it as an altimeter with ±1 meter accuracy.
PM2.5 Air Quality Sensor with I2C Interface – PMSA003I: Breathe easy, knowing that you can track and sense the quality of the air around you with this PM2.5 Air Quality Sensor with I2C Interface particulate sensor. Mad Max & Furiosa definitely should have hooked up one of these in their truck while scavenging the dusty desert wilderness of post-apocalyptic Australia. And for those of us not living in an Outback dystopia, this sensor is great for monitoring air quality, in a compact plug-in format.
Best of all, unlike almost all other sensors we’ve seen that are UART interface, this one is I2C interface, which makes it a great match for single board linux computers like Raspberry Pi, or even plain Arduino UNO’s that normally would use software serial.
