Fitbit on a Charge

Fitbit users are being treated to a raft of new product releases this week.

The company is launching Charge 2, an updated version of the Charge HR, as well as partnerships with several fashion brands including Vera Wang. The new Charge 2 displays real-time statistics for steps, distance, calories burned, floors climbed, active minutes and hourly activity. New to Fitbit are the Charge 2’s guided breathing sessions, which use heart rate to give breathing prompts for relaxation – similar to the Breathe App on the Apple Watch.

The entry-level tracker Flex is also being updated and made water-resistant up to 50 meters and capable of tracking swimming workouts. There’s also a series of LEDs that offer simple insight into daily goals and alert users of calls and text. As with the Charge, the wearable is modular, with a small piece that can be popped into bands and other jewellery like the Swarovski Crystal.

The new Charge and Flex will be hitting retail in September and October, priced at $150 and $100, respectively.
