3D Printed Durotan s Axe Warcraft by Matt Kingston Pinshape

The 3 files for this print will need printing twice, the second print for each piece will need to be mirrored. This is a nice easy print so you can use what ever settings you think will be best. I printed this one in Pla with standard Cura fast print settings with the Ultimaker 2 +. Each part will slot together for easy assembly.

The finish I used was very simple. chrome spray for the base coat followed by a light misting of matte black. Black acrylic paint then brushed over and wiped away with a cloth to darken the metal effect and leave a grubby look in corners etc. I then used Metal polish over the edges to clean up the black leaving a shine. The wood effect in the body of the axe and the teeth were just painted with acrylic paints. The handle was wrapped with Nappa leather.

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!
